Our Contribution To Rural Life
gandirs_tower_hotelThe Gandirs Group, the owner of Gandirs Tower Hotel, firmly believes that it is the responsibility of profitable corporations to generously contribute to the social and cultural welfare of the place where they do business. In that spirit, Gandirs has initiated the following projects:

Both Erka (founder of Gandirs Group) and her husband, Mongolian Parliament Member Ts. Sharavdorj, were born and raised in Mongolia s Gobi Desert region and are devout Buddhists. In the Gobi, and throughout Mongolia, nearly all of the Buddhist infrastructure was destroyed during the Stalinist religious purges of the late 1930 s. Until 1990, the practice of their religion was forbidden under the socialist system.

gandirs_tower_hotel_ulaanbaatarThe Gandirs Group believes that the encouragement of traditional Mongolian Buddhist principles contributes greatly to the spiritual health of the Mongolian nation. Following the official reinstatement of religious freedom in 1991, they have diligently cooperated with many others in the revival of Mongolia s Buddhist life. In particular, they have supported the renaissance of Khamar Monastery in the Eastern Gobi, the traditional seat of the renowned 19th c. lama, Danzan Ravjaa. The Gandirs Group has contributed to:

* The return of priceless Buddhist art treasures looted during the Stalinist years
* The printing and acquisition of the fundamental Buddhist texts
* The rebuilding of temples and stupas
* Sponsoring young Mongolians to train in the Tibetan monasteries of India
